Inspired largely by irish and scotch whiskies, most French whiskies are made from malted barley. However, in 2002, the Menhirs distillery, located in Plomelin in Finistère, France, created the event by launching the first French whisky made from buckwheat. French whisky still has some surprises in store for us.
