Haut Armagnac is also called white Armagnac because of its predominantly limestone soils. The acidic soil and the high hygrometry contribute to create brandies with a lively character. In the southwestern part of the territory, the hillsides adjacent to the Bas Armagnac have the same soil composed of Boulbène. The Armagnacs produced in this part of the Haut Armagnac have a lot in common with their neighbors produced under the appellation Bas Armagnac. They have more body and roundness, they are also rich and aromatic eaux-de-vie.
