Cefalonia

The Cefalonia vineyard covers an area of only 3000 stremmas. In these traditional kypella shaped vineyards, which climb to an altitude of 800m on the western slopes of Mount Enos, the noble Robola grape variety, unique in Greece, is cultivated. 

 

This white grape variety grows well in the poor limestone soils of the mountainous and semi-mountainous regions in the north and center of the island, where until recently it was cultivated free standing. At lower altitudes the red grape variety Mavrodaphne is also cultivated, producing the Greek liqueur wine of the same name, as well as the white wine Muscat.
