Booming since the 1960s, the Margaret River has become Western Australia's premier wine region. It is also known for attempting to introduce the country's first appellation of origin system in 1978
Margaret River is located 200 kilometers south of Perth, the capital of the state of Western Australia. This coastal region of the Indian Ocean, between the Cape Naturaliste in the North and Cape Leeuwin in the South, has a warm and humid oceanic climate. The climate of Margaret River is similar to that of Bordeaux and allows the production of more European wines than other Australian wine regions.
Chardonnay thrives in the Margaret River, with its natural acidity and stone fruit aromas. It is mineral, intense and displays a wide range of flavors. Finally, the blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc works wonderfully, resulting in wines with a lively acidity, hints of gooseberry and exotic fruits.
