The Autonomous Region of Castilla-La Mancha is located in the center of Spain, between Madrid in the north and Andalusia in the south. It alone produces half of Spain's wines with a vineyard of nearly 450,000 hectares, even though it has only eight local DOs.
Located on the Central Meseta of the Iberian Peninsula, the Castilla la Mancha wine appellation encompasses 182 municipalities spread over the four provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo. The vineyards enjoy an extreme continental climate, with wide variations in temperature and variable rainfall, providing the conditions for optimal vine development. These characteristics give splendid results, thanks in particular to the work of Bodega Ercavio.
The white wines of the Castilla la Mancha appellation are made from Airén, Macabeu, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
