In Gironde, only the regional appellation Bordeaux is available in rosé. Produced throughout the Gironde region, on a surface area of 4,725 ha, the Bordeaux Rosé, which are charming and round wines, represent 170,000 hl/year.
The soils are identical to those of the Bordeaux Clairet and are composed of sand, gravel, boulbènes and palus. The grape varieties used in the blend are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Bordeaux rosé wines are made from a maceration of a few hours to be then vinified as white wines. This technique gives supple rosés, with fruity aromas, fresh, elegant and persistent in the mouth.
