Aragon is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in Spain. The vineyards of Aragon are spread over four denominations of controlled origin which are: Carinena, Calatayud, Somontano and Campo de Borja. The AOC vineyard represents 35700 hectares in the region. The four appellations produce relatively different wines due to their grape varieties, soils, exposure and altitude.
Aragon produces very convincing rosé wines, mainly based on Grenache, which are made from local or imported grape varieties.
