The region of Castilla y León is located in the north of Spain and covers an area of 95.000km². The vineyards are spread throughout the whole territory of Castilla y León and represent 40.000 hectares of surface.
The climate of the region's vineyards is oceanic in the north and west and continental in the center. The vines produce concentrated grapes with good acidity. The Douro, or Duero, is a river that crosses and feeds many of the appellations including Toro and Ribera del Duero, both of which produce excellent rosé wines.
