The AOC Morey-Saint-Denis designates a 135-hectare vineyard with several climates classified as Grands Crus, Premiers Crus and even Villages.
The appellation area includes 5 Grands Crus: Clos-de-la-Roche, Clos-Saint-Denis, Clos-des-Lambrays, Clos-de-Tart and Bonnes-Marnes; and 20 Premiers Crus.
The red Premiers Crus vary in their expressions. To the north, the wines are more powerful, while they are refined as they descend to the south towards the commune of Chambolle.
In the region, it’s said that they "truffle" as they age, they gain notes of leather, moss and game, reminiscent of a hunting party.
