The Côtes de Gascogne is a "Vin de Pays" produced in the Armagnac area in the southwest of France. 75% of the volumes marketed leave our borders. The vineyard area covers 15,000 hectares, for an annual production of 830,000 hectoliters.
The appellation was officially recognized in 1982, the production conditions for obtaining the approval are thus clearly identified. Thus, the grape varieties merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and tannat are blended for the production of red wines. These grape varieties flourish on soils of sand, limestone and clay, a subtle blend that gives the wine its typicality. As for the climate, it is of a degraded oceanic type, with mild and humid winters, as well as hot, often stormy summers.
