Today 2/3 of cefalonia's vineyards are located in mountainous or semi-mountainous areas, mainly on limestone soils particularly poor in organic matter. The island's climate is mild, quite rainy and Mount Enos offers extremely favourable conditions.
All of the above, combined with the low yield per acre and the small size of the vineyard plots, has defined the type of viniculture. The most cultivated variety is Robola and secondarily the white Muscat, Mavrodaphne, Tsaousi, Vostilidi or Goustolidi, Zakynthino and the fragrant Moschatella which is the exclusivity of the islands.
