A privileged production region of Peru, the Ica Valley possesses terroirs with a strong potential that reminds us a little of their illustrious neighbor, Chile. To understand the richness of these soils, we must go back to prehistoric times, during the great thaw period. This climatic upheaval caused gigantic mudslides that slid down the Andes Cordillera to the Pacific Ocean. They are responsible for the formation of the present valleys and their stony and sandy subsoils. The result is incredible alluvial soils that benefit the cultivation of vines.
Mediterranean grape varieties, such as Mourvèdre and Carignan offer beautiful expressions on these terroirs, and the classic Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon have tannins of great power.
