Today, the South African vineyard covers 130,000 hectares (about the size of the Bordeaux vineyard).
It is distributed in five regions and divided into about twenty districts, of which we distinguish, in the Cape region, the main production area: Swartland, Tulbagh, Paarl, Stellenbosch, Cape Point, Tygerberg and Boberg, a designation reserved for the liqueur wines and red wines produced in Paarl and Tulbagh.
