The Campo de Borja appellation is a "Denominación de Origen" located in the northwest of the province of Zaragoza in northern Spain. The oldest vineyards of the Campo de Borja D.O. date back to 1145. The D.O. label was granted to Campo de Borja in 1978, and covers an area of 7500 hectares, covering 16 municipalities.
The grape varieties used for Campo de Borja wines are varied, but the king grape of the appellation is undoubtedly Grenache. This grape variety accounts for more than 60% of the vineyards of the Campo de Borja D.O. The monovarietal wines made from Grenache have made the prestige of the appellation throughout the world. The red wines also use Tempranillo, Mazuela, Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah.
