Although it is not the best known appellation, Ribeiro is the most classic winery in Galicia. Historically, this region has meant a lot to the viticulture: sweet wines were already produced here in the Middle Ages (the famous "Ribadavia") for the English market, before they were produced in the Sherry region.
At the moment, some 3,000 hectares are planted, making it the largest appellation in Galicia.
The estate produces a very small quantity of original red wines, not very commercial, but with a lot of personality, made from typical grape varieties such as Caïno, Sousón, Ferrón, etc.
