The Côtes-de-Bourg are the oldest vineyards in Bordeaux. Situated south of the town of Blaye, opposite the Margaux appellation, on the slopes overlooking the Gironde, the appellation covers 3,900 hectares of limestone, sandy-clayey soils.
Known as the "little Swiss Gironde", the AOC produces 195,000 hl of wine per year. The red Côtes-de-Bourg reds wines are renowned for their quality, they represent 98% of the production. They are made from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
