The AOC Haut-médoc is located in the south of the Médoc appellation. The Haut-médoc appellation only produces red wines, about 220,000 hl/year.
The reputation of Haut-Médoc is linked, among other things, to the presence of 5 "crus classés" in the 1855 classification, and to the presence of over 150 properties in the 1932 classification of "crus bourgeois du Médoc". The wines are concentrated with a tannic structure that requires a minimum of 6 months of ageing.
