The AOC Médoc concerns the northern part of the Gironde peninsula. It’s 80 km long and 10 km wide. A distinction is made between Haut-Médoc to the south and Bas-Médoc to the north, which corresponds to the Médoc appellation proper.
This AOC covers 5,800 ha and produces 285,000 hl of red wines per year. The Médoc enjoys an exceptional geographical location and a unique subsoil. Gravelly hillocks give birth to great wines. The blend of Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec give the wines charm and balance.
