The Saint-Emilion appellation extends around the charming medieval village of Saint-Emilion, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
As in Pomerol, Merlot is the king grape variety. The diversity of its soil gives wines different styles. On and near the "plateau", the wines are powerful, generous and supple. This AOC covers 5,600 ha and produces an average of 235,000 hl/year of red wines.
Saint Emilion offers a very wide range of choices: from very great "chic" wines to excellent bargains.
