Between the Cahors and Gaillac appellations, the Coteaux-du-Quercy area includes thirty-three communes in the Lot and Tarn-et-Garonne departments in southern Quercy.
The Cabernet Franc, the main grape variety, thrives on the region's molasses soils and limestone plateaus. The Coteaux-du-Quercy produce essentially red wines, fleshy and generous, with aromatic complexity. The coteaux-du-quercy became AOC in 2011.
