Without hesitation we can say that Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil is one of the great red wines of the Loire. This vineyard of Touraine is located on the right bank of the Loire in the department of Indre and Loire. The landscape is superb. It is composed of many rivers, punctuated by hillsides and the magnificent castles of the Loire. This vineyard certainly dates from the Gallo-Roman period. The grape variety cabernet franc is king, it enters at 100% in the composition of the red wines.
The red Saint Nicolas de bourgueil wine from the foot of the hillsides provides a dense and full wine, its color is purple. A few years of ageing are necessary to give this wine time to round out. Some vintages, such as Yannick Amirault's, can wait more than 10 years.
