The AOC Coteaux-du-Giennois is located in the Centre-Loire. The vineyard of 200 hectares is based on two distinct soils separated by the "Cosne fault". To the north, the soils are composed of clay, silica and sometimes limestone, they are located in the area of Briare in Gien. In the south, the vineyards are based on white earth and clods, with siliceous deposits in places.
To claim their Coteaux-du-Giennois appellation, the red wines must be made from a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir.
The characters of each Coteaux-du-Giennois are difficult to define because these wines present very different gustatory nuances depending on their soil and location.
