The AOC Saint-Pourçain belongs to the Centre-Loire sub-region, and applies to wines from Auvergne vineyards. The annual production is 25 500 hl/year. The vineyard covers 540 hectares and 19 communes (including Saint-Pourçain) on the left bank of the Allier.
The vineyard is located at an altitude varying between 260 and 300 meters, on hillsides benefiting from a south-east to west exposure. The continental climate is still subject to oceanic influences due to its location in relation to the Atlantic.
The red wines are made from gamay and pinot noir are very appreciated and complex and have good ageing potential.
