The AOC Côte-Roannaise is attached to the sub-region Centre-Loire, its appellation area is located on the vineyards of Auvergne. It is located in the north of the Loire department, next to the Madeleine (a chain of the Massif Central), on 210 hectares.
The vineyard is drawn by numerous rivers and streams which create very favorable situations for the blossoming of the vine. Gamay, the only grape variety used in the elaboration of the reds of the AOC Côte-Roannaise, finds in the granite soils a land of predilection.
Approximately 10,000 hectoliters are produced each year on this terroir. The wines, for the most, are vinified in semi-carbonic maceration, are light and well-balanced, with notes of wild blackberries and morello cherries.
