The Malepère appellation is the westernmost of all the Languedoc, established on the terraces and hillsides along a massif forming a trapezoid, La Malepère. 39 communes, in the west of the Aude department, including Carcassonne, grouped around the Malepère massif, share the appellation.
The grape variety is particulary because it mixes grape varieties from the South West (Merlot/Cabernet) with Mediterranean varieties such as Grenache Noir and Cinsault. Merlot Noir is the main grape variety for this red wine.
Beautiful representations of this land, the great wines of Malepère, which have grown under the protection of their massif, mix suppleness with power, the flavor of red fruits with those of spices and the sweetness of vanilla notes.
