The AOC Costières-de-Nîmes is located south of Nîmes, between Beaucaire and Saint-Gilles. The Costières form a high terrace overlooking the Rhone plain, north of the Camargue. This territory is the link between the vineyards of the Rhône and those of Languedoc. This appellation has a surface area of 10,000 hectares, of which 4350 are in production with more than 200,000 hectoliters per year.
The climate is marked by very sunny summers, dry but punctuated by irregular rainfall. It is therefore of the Mediterranean type but is under a real maritime influence. The soil is composed of rolled pebbles. The Mistral wind ends up accompanying the development of the vines by sanitizing them.
For the white wines, the grape varieties used are numerous: clairette, white grenache, bourboulenc and ugni blanc, and also marsanne, roussanne, maccabeu and rolle. The Costières-de-Nîmes wines are similar to the wines of the Côtes-du-Rhône and are often fruity. The white wines favor citrus fruit, exotic fruit and white flesh fruit aromas depending on the blends made with the different grape varieties.
