The AOC Costières-de-Nîmes is located in the south of Nîmes, between Beaucaire and Saint-Gilles. This territory is the link between the vineyards of the Rhône and those of Languedoc. This appellation has a surface area of 10,000 hectares, of which 4350 are in production with more than 200,000 hectoliters per year.
The climate is marked by very sunny summers, dry but punctuated and irregular rainfall. The soil is composed of rolled pebbles. The Mistral wind finishes to accompany the development of the vine by sanitizing it.
The grape varieties used for red wines are Grenache Noir (25% minimum), Syrah and Mourvèdre (combined at least 20%), and in addition Cinsault and Carignan.
The Costières-de-Nîmes wines are similar to the wines of the Côtes-du-Rhône and are often fruity. These red wines remain in the lineage of the Coteaux-du-Languedoc on aromas of garrigue, red fruits and spices.
