The crémants of Alsace are great effervescent, refined and mouth-watering and very refreshing, especially thanks to their fine bubbles. Today, Alsace is at the top of the French regions for its volume of crémant production, which represents more than a fifth of the Alsatian vineyard's offer. As with champagne, manual harvesting is de rigueur. As for maturing on lees, it cannot be less than nine months.
The grape varieties that can be used in the composition of Crémant-d'alsace are pinot blanc, auxerrois, pinot gris, riesling, chardonnay and pinot noir, which is the only grape variety to produce rosé wines, and more rarely whites of blacks. If chardonnay (used in Alsace only for crémant) exclusively composes some vintages, pinot blanc is the most used. The crémant-d'alsace is distinguished by its lightness and finesse.
