Located on the right bank of the Garonne, the appellation area extends in the central part of the Entre-deux-Mers region over nine communes (Arbis, Cantois, Escoussans, Gornac, Ladaux, Mourens, Soulignac, Saint-Pierre-de-Bat and Targon).
The AOC Bordeaux Haut-Benauge owes its name to the former viscounty that commanded the castle of Benauge, a sumptuous medieval fortress located in Arbis. On soils composed of boulbènes and limestone, enjoying a climate conducive to the development of botrytis, this appellation produces powerful and lively sweet white wines.
