At the confluence of two combes, Pernand-Vergelesses is built on a hillside set back from the Côte de Beaune. Its vineyard is located on the Montagne de Corton, whose south-western slope bears the grand crus. At the base of the hillside, the vines are planted on clay-limestone soil mixed with pebbles. The village of Pernand married in 1922 the name of its most famous climate to become Pernand-Vergelesses. The communal AOC produces excellent red wines.
