Between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, the Maranges appellation includes Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. The wine of the appellation is similar to the nearby Santenay. However, differences appear between the terroirs: the light, gravelly soils of Cheilly give a wine with remarkable delicacy. Structure and firmness characterize the wines of Dezize and Sampigny. There is also a small production of white wines with a flowery temperament.
