Beaune, its hotel-Dieu and its "Mountain" are the very image of Burgundy, the capital of its wine. The appellation mainly produces red wines born from the pinot noir grape in an area with a very strong geological identity - limestone and marl. Exposure varies from east to south-east through south-facing slopes. If the wine of Beaune was once renowned for its light, partridge-eyed nuance and youthful temperament, today it is generous and full-bodied, full of body and spirit. The first growths are rather light in the Grèves, more fleshy in the Clos des Mouches.
