Called Vin de Pays des Portes de la Méditerranée until 2007, the Mediterranean IGP became official at the European level in 2009.
This vast appellation covers the south-eastern quarter of France, including Corsica. The vineyard of the IGP Mediterranean is characterized by its relief, its varied climates and the diversity of its mainly local grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Vermentino/Rolle, Caladoc...).
To date, there are 267 actors of this Protected Geographical Indication: 78 cooperative cellars, 153 estates and 36 merchants.
