The production area of the wines protected by the Toro Designation of Origin is located in the southeast of the province of Zamora, at the western end of the Spanish region of Castilla y León. The DO was officially founded in 1987 by six protected vineyards, today there are more than 60 and the wines are sold practically all over the world, with a special presence in the national market. Toro is one of the Spanish Denominations of Origin with the oldest vineyard.
The rosé wines of Toro are made with the varieties Tinta de Toro and / or Garnacha. Indeed, Tinta de Toro is the main variety of the appellation, but not the only one: there are other varieties such as Garnacha Tinta, Malvasía and Verdejo which are grown in smaller quantities to make rosé wines.
