Alain Verset, heir to the Verset family legacy, is a prominent figure in the Cornas appellation of the Northern Rhône Valley. After taking over from his father Louis in 1994, Alain continued the tradition by producing wines of exceptional purity, reflecting the unique terroir of Cornas.
The Alain Verset estate, covering approximately one hectare, is located on prestigious terroirs such as Reynards, Mazards, and Champelrose. These plots, cultivated with Syrah, give rise to powerful, structured wines with great aromatic complexity.
The winemaking process is traditional: whole-cluster fermentation without destemming, use of native yeasts, aging in old foudres, without filtration or fining. This approach results in authentic wines that faithfully express the terroir.
Recent vintages, such as the Cornas 2018 and 2019, are particularly appreciated for their aromatic richness and aging potential. The Cornas 2018, with its aromas of dark fruits, smoked meat, and black pepper, offers a full-bodied palate and a long, mineral finish. The Cornas 2019, on the other hand, stands out with its notes of dark fruits, leather, and spices, featuring an elegant tannic structure and beautiful freshness.
In 2016, Alain handed over the management of the estate to his daughter Emmanuelle, who founded Domaine A&E Verset. Emmanuelle, one of the few female winemakers in the region, continues the family legacy by producing wines of great finesse, while respecting the traditions established by her father.
