Aymeric and Thibault Machard de Gramont, Chantal Lescure's sons, are handing over the family estate in Nuits-Saint-Georges. It is bought by Eric Rousseau, of the Armand Rousseau estate, and Jean-Philippe Girard.
It is a page that is turning at the Chantal Lescure estate in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Founded in 1975 by Chantal Lescure and Xavier Machard de Gramont, the estate was owned since 1996 by Chantal Lescure's sons, Aymeric and Thibault Machard de Gramont. Today we learn that it is sold to two new owners, Jean-Philippe Girard and Éric Rousseau. François Chavériat, who has been running the estate for 26 years, will however remain in place, as will his teams.
Jean-Philippe Girard created and managed Eurogerm, a company in the wheat-flour-bread industry, for 30 years. He now wishes to turn to another universe and declares in a press release that he will continue "to put all his heart and energy into continuing to raise the Chantal Lescure estate to the rank of the greatest".
In this new adventure, Jean-Philippe Girard has teamed up with Eric Rousseau, a well-known name in Burgundy, as he is the head of the famous Domaine Armand Rousseau in Gevrey-Chambertin. "We want to keep the same philosophy and the same guideline, to produce authentic, lively and pure wines. In the vineyard as in the cellar, our teams do not change as well as our cultivation and vinification methods. Combining our historical know-how, this adventure opens a horizon, rich in beautiful perspectives" declare Jean-Philippe Girard, Éric Rousseau and François Chavériat in a joint statement.
