DOMAINE GROFFIER THE KING OF PINOT NOIR
The Robert Groffier Père et Fils estate extends its vines over Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny in Burgundy, even if the family itself lives in Morey-Saint-Denis. In Chambolle-Musigny, the Groffiers own most of the famous Premier Cru "Les Amoureuses". The estate has already been run by several generations of Groffiers since the 19th century, with Frédéric, the founder, Jules and Robert. The latter was joined by his son Nicolas in 2005. This area, which has long been prized by enthusiasts around the world, is seeing the new generation give it a new lease of life. Nicolas Groffier, born in 1984, and his younger sister Julie, are now in charge. Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, the estate has most of its vines in Chambolle-Musigny, with, among others, a magnificent plot in Les Amoureuses.
Fine wines
From the villages to the grands crus, the wines are fine, with a silky texture that perfectly symbolizes the style of the estate. As Nicolas Groffier points out, the estate's research focuses on concentration through the grapes and not in the cellar. Successful bet on the whole range.
The commitment to mature wines
From the 2014 vintage, the estate only sells half of the last vintage, and now prefers to bring out mature wines, aware that many of them are probably drunk too early and subject to speculation. We salute this laudable concern, which other areas would be well advised to emulate. The wines: the wines are ripe and some have less than 13% alcohol: a rising value with racy and high-precision wines, you will find all our wines available from the Groffier estate on our website.
