For over 75 years, Domaine E. Guigal has embodied the greatness and diversity of the Rhône Valley. From Côte-Rôtie to Hermitage, Condrieu to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this iconic family-run estate has crafted some of France’s finest wines. Its unmistakable style is driven by uncompromising standards and deep respect for terroir.
A Family Estate with Global Prestige
Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the estate rose to fame under the leadership of his son Marcel Guigal, who brought it to international prominence. Today, the third generation, led by Philippe Guigal, continues the legacy with unwavering passion and excellence.
From artisan winemaker to global reference, Guigal has stayed true to its roots while becoming a symbol of Rhône excellence in over 100 countries.
Mastering Rhône Terroirs
The estate oversees a remarkable collection of vineyards, especially in the Northern Rhône—notably Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, and Crozes-Hermitage—as well as in the Southern Rhône, including Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Guigal is world-renowned for its three legendary Côte-Rôtie cuvées:
• La Mouline (elegant and silky)
• La Turque (powerful and intense)
• La Landonne (structured and profound)
Produced in small quantities, these are among the finest wines in France, known for their longevity and precision.
Uncompromising Craftsmanship
At Guigal, no detail is left to chance. Grapes are harvested at perfect ripeness, fermentation is extended, and barrel aging often lasts over 36 months—even for some entry-level cuvées.
Uniquely, all barrels are made in-house, in the estate’s own cooperage, ensuring precise control over the oak influence.
The result: wines of outstanding clarity and balance, built to age beautifully.
Wines of Character, Complexity, and Pleasure
Whether it’s a Côtes-du-Rhône, a Condrieu, or a flagship cuvée, Guigal wines share a recognizable signature: controlled power, silky texture, expressive aromatics, and exceptional cellaring potential.
From the grandest bottlings to more accessible labels, every wine reflects the Guigal style: artisanal, timeless, and masterfully made.
A Global Benchmark
Today, Guigal is one of the most recognized French wine names around the globe. Its cuvées consistently earn top scores from critics like Robert Parker, Wine Spectator, Vinous, and Jeb Dunnuck, often described as the “Lafite of the Rhône.”
Collectors and wine lovers alike seek out its rarest bottles, while its classic ranges remain essentials in top cellars.
Tasting Advice
Northern Rhône reds (Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Hermitage…) should be served at 16–18 °C, after 1 hour in a decanter. Perfect with grilled or braised meats, rich sauces, or game.
Condrieu and other dry whites from the estate shine at 10–12 °C, paired with delicate fish, creamy poultry, or truffle Brie.
