Graham's: A Centuries-Old Heritage in the Heart of the Douro
Founded in 1820 by brothers William and John Graham, Graham's is an iconic figure in the Portuguese wine landscape. For over two centuries, it has perpetuated a tradition of excellence and innovation, producing Port wines of exceptional quality.
An Exceptional Terroir
Graham's vineyards are located in the Douro region, a UNESCO World Heritage wine region. The Douro's schist gives the wines a unique minerality, while the continental climate, characterised by hot summers and cold winters, favours the ripening of the grapes. Traditional Douro grape varieties, such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Roriz, are carefully selected to produce Graham's wines.
A Know-How Passed Down from Generation to Generation
Graham's know-how is based on an ancestral winemaking tradition, passed down from generation to generation. Each stage of winemaking, from harvest to bottling, is carried out with extreme care. The house has perfectly mastered the art of blending, which creates complex and balanced wines. Aging in oak barrels also plays a crucial role in the development of Graham's wines, giving them subtle aromas of dried fruits, nuts and spices.
The amber color with orange highlights of the Colheita 2011 testifies to harmonious aging in oak barrels. On the nose, a complex aromatic palette unfolds, subtly blending notes of dried fruits (figs, apricots), honey, nuts and sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). More subtle nuances of tobacco and leather enrich this complex bouquet. On the palate, the attack is frank and silky, with a beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness. The tannins are melted and bring an elegant structure to the whole. The finish is long and persistent, with notes of candied fruits and spices that prolong the pleasure.
An exceptional vintage
The 2011 vintage was marked by particularly favorable climatic conditions in the Douro region, offering grapes of great quality. These grapes, picked at perfect maturity, gave birth to a concentrated, fruity and balanced wine. Graham's Colheita 2011 is a reflection of this exceptional vintage, with intense aromas and remarkable freshness.
