atamisque serbal malbec 2019 is a good medium ruby. blackcurrant, licorice, menthol and a hint of chocolate on the nose. supple, dry and savory, with its chocolate and herb flavors suggesting a wide range of fruit ripeness. finishes salty, with a firm dusting of tannins and a building herbal character. a wine of modest material but nicely done. in argentina, the altitude of the vineyards plays a determining role in the quality of the grapes produced. in the province of mendoza, the vineyards of the uco valley are located in the foothills of the andes, at the foot of the tupungato volcano which marks the border with chile. the vines are mainly made of malbec, a grape variety imported from the southwest of france, planted in cahors at "only" 300m altitude, which has blossomed on the slopes of the cordillera in an exceptional way. indeed, at an altitude of more than 1000m and with the help of particularly cool nights, the grape ripens slowly and preserves an acidity that is essential to the balance and delicacy of great argentine wines, which are still subject to extreme heat, even in the mountains.
