the nine popes by charles melton is made from vineyards in the barossa valley. it is made from a blend of grenache, shiraz and mourvèdre grapes. the winemaking is carried out partly with a first internal maceration of clusters and partly with a maceration of almost whole berries. the wine is aged in french oak barrels for 24-28 months. intense ruby red, on the nose reveals notes of goudron, red rose, flint and spices. in the mouth it is structured and soft, with silky tannins and a long persistence. perfect to accompany important cooking of red meat and roasted and stewed game, as well as cured cheeses.
