at the end of the 1970s, the couple formed by the tarragona journalist carles pastrana and the barcelona winemaker mariona jarque embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, dedicating their professional and family future to the project to recover priorat wines and their international dissemination. . thirty years later, together with her two children, guillem and iona -who represent the essential future of this story- they have consolidated a project already known and recognized throughout the world. in 1979, carles pastrana and mariona jarque revived the family winemaking tradition and embarked on a long adventure to save the old carthusian wines in the heart of the lands once ruled by the priors of scala dei, a monastery located in the catalan region of priorat. we can say that this is still the most consistent and captivating farm in the region; clos de l'obac is a wine of extraordinary power, structure and complexity. these characteristics are the result of the diversity of orientations and altitudes of seven vineyards. it has body, sweet and jammy fruit, excellent purity, harmony and balance, and a long finish. this is a new style spanish red that should have many fans. these impressive wines are made from a blend of approximately 48% grenache, 46% cabernet sauvignon, and the remainder small amounts of syrah, merlot, and mazuelo. we can say that this domain remains the most regular and captivating domain of the clean and bright black cherry color region with purple reflections. medium layer intensity. very nice to see. fantastic nose, with a perfect balance between complexity and intensity. sweet notes of the best ripe black fruits, such as cherry and blackberry. and with minerality, it expresses itself in the best possible way, characterizing a terroir as unique and personal as licorella. very balanced on the palate, where the notes envelop your palate in the best possible way. it is complex and very structured with a long and very persistent finish where the spicy notes and subtle hints of cocoa leave you with the best experience.
