"bearing the surname of the chevalier antoine de lascombes since the 17th century, the château lascombes is marked by the imprint of the ten generations of owners who have shaped its history. since 2011, the mutual group macsf is the owner. the wines of château lascombes are recognized as being among the largest of the margaux appellation. 120 hectares in margaux appellation and 10 hectares in haut-médoc appellation make up the vineyard of this second grand cru classé in 1855. this vineyard is implanted on a mosaic of plots whose soils are composed, according to their location, of a gravelly croup, gravel and clay-limestone plots. originality compared to the other margaux crus, the encépagement of the vineyard of château lascombes is composed mainly of merlot, then cabernet sauvignon and small verdot. harvested manually, the grapes are sorted and then scraped. a slight crushing is done before encuvage. the pre-fermenting maceration lasts 10 days at 8°c. the alcoholic fermentation is followed by a classic vinification with light daily pumping to promote extraction. following the malolactic fermentation in barrels, aging on lees is lasting 4 months. the 2016 château lascombes is a blend of 50% cabernet sauvignon, 47% merlot and 3% small verdot. the dress impresses with its depth. elegant and balanced, the nose seduces by its aromatic richness (blackberry, coffee, ripe red berries, liquorice, mocha, spices and cardamom) round and of a beautiful density, the mouth seduces by its tension and mineral weft. gourmet, the palate mixes notes of fresh blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry and red berries (red currant) with toasted aromas but also chocolate and mocha."
