founded in 1863 by frédéric mugnier, a liqueur maker in dijon, at the beginning of the 20th century the estate comprised nearly twenty hectares spread over chambolle-musigny and nuits-saint-georges. it will be operated, jointly with the liqueur factory, by frédéric's sons and grandsons until 1949. before the creation of designations of origin, from 1878, the estate's wines were sold under labels bearing the only mention "château chambolle-musigny", following the example of bordeaux. then undergoing the war and the weather, the domaine was transmitted from generation to generation in the family to leave today, the place to jocelyne and frédéric mugnier. now supported by their team composed of: adeline, audrey, damien, fabien, guillaume, patrick and philippe pay attention day after day to every detail so that, from vine to cellar, and up to your glass, nothing of the best of nature. mugnier's chambolle-musigny 1er cru les amoureuses 2019 is thrilling, rising from the glass with scents of peonies, blood orange, rose petals, raspberries, bergamot and indian spices. light to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's deliciously refined, with melting tannins, vibrant fruit and a long, penetrating finish. illustrating the ideal of gentle intensity, like the first kiss of two young lovers.
