"gaja sito moresco is a red wine blend of the varieties nebbiolo, barbera and merlot produced by the winery gaja, under the docg barbaresco, in piedmont, italy. the grapes with which gaja sito moresco wine is made are selected and harvested manually and at the optimal time of ripening. the bunches, when they reach the winery, are destemmed and pressed gently. the varieties are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. after malolactic fermentation the coupage takes place. the resulting wine remains at rest for at least twelve months in stainless steel tanks. after this time the wine is bottled and continues its maturation in the winery for some months before its release to the market. the winery gaja dates from 1859 and is a symbol of viticulture in the heart of langhe, in piedmont. after four generations this family has managed to become an important place in the international wine scene thanks to its extraordinary elaborations where quality prevails. in the gaja sito moresco wine, the complexity and longevity of the nebbiolo grape are combined with the pleasant acidity of the barbera. the merlot grape gives body and harmony to this excellent piedmontese red, a gateway to the unique wines that angelo gaja makes and that are so desired worldwide. gaja sito moresco 2016 is a red wine that on the nose offers fruity aromas reminiscent of wild red and black fruits as well as herbal, vegetable and violet notes. in the mouth it is fine and harmonious, with subtle tannins, silky passage and an elegant and round finish."
