"in 1955, marcel dassault bought château la couperie, ""on a whim"", and renamed it after himself. numerous investments were made to improve the quality of the wines. in 1969, the château obtained the grand cru classé classification. today, laurent dassault, grandson of the industrialist, has taken over the château. the reasoned agriculture of the vineyard and the thinning out of the leaves in two stages contribute to a perfect sanitary state, and thus to be able to harvest the grapes at extreme maturity. since 2009, in order to perfect the selection of the berries, the château has been equipped with an optical sorting table. the vinification process is carried out in small concrete vats, allowing each parcel to be separated. the wines are aged in new barrels for 14 to 16 months. this is an hedonistic, plump, rich, juicy 2003 st. emilion that has held up reasonably well. a dark plum/ruby color is accompanied by lots of fig, jammy cherry and a confiture of black currants. round, sexy, lush and medium-bodied, there is not a hard edge to be found in this sleeper of the vintage. drink it over the next 4-5 years."
