the marcel lapierre estate was established in 1909, and in 1973, marcel lapierre took over the management of the estate, which then had seven hectares of vineyards, benefiting from a loyal clientele built by his father. from 1981, inspired by the innovative ideas of jules chauvet, a researcher and winemaker, marcel lapierre decided to vinify his wines without the addition of sulfur dioxide (so2) and without the use of exogenous yeasts, while adopting biodynamic principles for vine cultivation. subsequently, marcel's children, mathieu lapierre in 2004, became the heirs to the estate. in 2013, camille lapierre joined her brother in managing the family estate. thus, the marcel lapierre estate remains faithful to its traditions, emphasizing environmentally friendly practices and vinification without artificial additives. currently, the lapierre estate practices organic farming to cultivate its vineyards, adopting an environmentally friendly approach. fermentations are carried out without the addition of any additives. the estate now spans 18 hectares, primarily dedicated to the cultivation of gamay noir à jus blanc. the vineyards are mostly located in the morgon appellation, with additional plots in the beaujolais region. since marcel lapierre's passing, his wife marie, son mathieu, and daughter camille continue the legacy of the "natural" wines he pioneered. the strength of the lapierre family lies in a magnificent plot cultivated in organic agriculture since 1981, allowing the creation of an emblematic morgon representing the appellation. additionally, the estate offers a "sans soufre" (without sulfur) wine for immediate pleasure and a more confidential juliénas. to meet growing demand, the estate also purchases grapes. the aging process takes place without the addition of sulfur, averaging nine months in barrels ranging from three to thirteen years old, as well as in venerable large barrels. the estate is entering a new era that allows it to consistently produce "natural" wines, never losing sight of quality and balance. the emblematic cuvée of the estate continues its journey, preserving the classic characteristics of morgon with its intense black fruit, lively structure, and indulgent finish. resisting the excesses of the vintage's power, this gamay delights with its balance. it is a cuvée that evokes a genuine fondness for the beaujolais region. certainly, here is a more detailed description of activities you can engage in the beaujolais region: · wine tasting: explore the renowned crus of beaujolais such as morgon, fleurie, brouilly, and many others. numerous vineyards welcome visitors for tastings, often accompanied by explanations of winemaking techniques. · village exploration: discover picturesque villages like oingt, characterized by its golden stone houses. enjoy small shops, art galleries, and charming cafes. . hiking: traverse hiking trails offering panoramic views of hills and vineyards. mont brouilly is particularly popular for hiking, with its summit providing breathtaking vistas.
