with a history dating back to 1909, the m.lapierre estate is a family estate that has been carried from generation to generation by a pioneering approach to vine growing and viticulture. while the estate produced wines for the fleurie cooperative, camille lapierre began selling wine in barrels to local restaurant owners in 1941. during the 1960s, camille lapierre sold his wines under his own name and increased the size of the estate. the property opened a new page in its history in 1981 when marcel lapierre, camille's son, who had been at the head of the estate since 1973, decided to run his vineyard exclusively in biodynamic methods and to vinify without the use of so2 and yeast. from now on, marcel lapierre's children, mathieu and camille, perpetuate the work of their father. this camille vintage of the m.lapierre estate is a morgon wine from a one hectare vineyard. the vines are grown in organic agriculture on poor soils composed mainly of granite. harvested by hand, the grapes are rigorously sorted. semi-carbonic maceration without so2 or yeast for 24 days in truncated wooden tanks. the wine is matured in old 216 liter barrels for 9 months. bottling is done without filtration but with a slight addition of sulfites. this beaujolais wine seduces by its fruity expression (fresh red fruits) and floral as well as its beautiful length.
