"the grange des peres estate is one of the most successful estates in languedoc, the most renowned and sought after. it should be noted that his family moved to the region in 1963 and that he took over the family farm in 1988, after having trained with eloi dürrbach at the trévallon estate (provence), with jean-françois coche-dury (meursault) and gérard chave (northern rhône valley). after signing his first vintage in 1992, he expanded the estate to 11 hectares. the winegrower worked his soils without chemical and, without being certified, respected the principles of biodynamic. it focused on small-scale winemaking (in stainless steel tanks of 50 hectolitres) and raising for 24 months in barrels comprising a third of new wood. from the first vintage, the great quality of the wines of the grange des peres was unanimously recognized. yet the winemaker surprised by his blends. thus, the reds include mourvèdre, syrah and cabernet sauvignon and, the whites, chardonnay, marsanne and roussanne. an absolute icon of languedoc, it is one of the «wines to drink at least once in his life» of many amateurs. since its first vintage in 1992, it has seduced with a completely different style. the vineyards are perched between 250 and 300 meters above sea level in the arboussas massif. the atypical blend of syrah and mourvèdre to which are added cabernet-sauvignon and a little counoise forced him to produce his wine under the name «wine of country». this cuvée has an intense and very expressive nose, with flavours of red and black fruit compote, with notes of garrigue and spices. the mouth is immediately powerful, straight, ample, balanced, beautiful material, dense and very persistent. blindly, one could easily let oneself embark on wine of the northern rhône valley."
