frédéric magnien is in charge of both the family estate in morey-saint-denis - where he represents the 4th generation at the head of the estate - and its trading activity. since the creation of the estate in 1967, his father and mother, michel and dominique manien, have continued to develop the estate so that it now covers 18 hectares, a remarkable size for the region. the family owns parcels on sumptuous terroirs such as the clos de la roche and clos saint-denis grands crus. frédéric magnien joined his father in 1993. since 2010, the vines of the estate are worked according to biodynamic principles (demeter certification). the vinification methods have also changed to accommodate this new philosophy. starting in 2015, for example, the wines began to be vinified in terracotta jars, an aromatically neutral container that still allows the wine to breathe. the estate is regularly praised by critics for its fine, elegant wines.
